Showing & Grooming Tools

Below are the things that I use for my Aussies. Click on the picture to be redirected to online sellers. These are my favorite tools but there are many more options out there. People swear by many different shampoos so don't be afraid to try new ones. I personally love the Isle of Dog and Pure Paws lines.

A grooming table with an arm and grooming noose is a must. There are many out there to choose from. You will need at least a 36 inch long table.
Picture
Millers Forge Comb. This is my absolute favorite and I can only find them online now.
Picture
#1 All Systems Slicker. I use this slicker to brush up the legs.
Picture
Artero Artero Special Knot Solver. This helps strip out undercoat to help flatten topline or other problem areas.
Picture
I have not been able to find a rake exactly like mine but this is close. I use this when they are blowing coat and I need to remove.
Picture
I cut up this pool chalk and rub on the legs to give lift and substance to the legs. I find it less messy than powdered chalk.
Picture
Show Tech Saw Blade Stripping Knife. I use this for stripping out the fuzzy hair behind the ear. Especially on a red dog.
Picture
Dremel 8050-N/18 Micro Cordless for nails. I recommend a diamond grinder vs the sand paper.
Picture
Got 2B Powder'Ful Volumizing Style Powder to provide volume on a dippy top line. Applied at the base of the hair.
Picture
Chris Christensen Heavy Duty Double Action Trigger Spray Bottles for applying bodifier and conditioner.
Picture
Coat Handler Coat Conditioner for bathing and adding to mister for use when brushing. Helps prevent coat breakage.
Picture
Cherry Knoll - Coat Dressing, Aerosol to help set a groom and make brushing easier.
Picture
Chris Christensen Spectrum Ten Hypro Pac Intensive Treatment for dogs with really dry coat.
Picture
Chris Christensen - Logo 16 oz. Applicator Bottle with Measuring Marks for diluting shampoo.
Picture
The Flying Pig dryer is great for taking to shows. Flying One High Velocity 4.0 Hp Motor Dog Pet Grooming Force Dryer w/Heater
Picture
Chris Christensen Oblong Pin Brush, 20mm for brushing when drying and dealing with "rooster" tail.
Picture
Isle of Dog Puppy Shampoo. I love the long lasting scent.
Picture
Madan Purple Oval brush. I use this for fluffing over the withers. It is very soft and does not break down the "groom". Most pin brushes are firm and will get too deep when trying to do a quick fluff before going in the ring.
Picture
I can't say enough how much I love the Artero Tool bag for carrying all my grooming stuff.
Picture
You can buy chalk at the dog show but I prefer to use plan corn starch. It is not as drying on the coat and does not leave a weird texture.
Picture
I prefer a fine jewelers link or Herm sprenger choke chain vs a snake. The snake are very heavy and won't stay in place as well. MOST Aussies can wear a 16 or 18 inch chain.
Picture
GBF Diamond Nail Rotary Tool
Picture
Chris Christensen 007 7" Dual Tooth Tail Teaser Buttercomb for teasing hair to give lift.
Picture
Crown Royale Bodifier Texturizing Spray for fluffing before the show.
Picture
Pure Paws - H2O Hydrating Mist for moisturizing the coat. Smells amazing as well. It will make the coat greasy so not too much.
Picture
Plush Puppy Shine and Comb Instant Shine! Adds shine to the coat and I also use if too much product has been used. I takes away the sticky feeling.
Picture
Chris Christensen Coat Link Coat Dressing is another thing I use to put moisture back into the coat.
Picture
I use the K9 at home. It is where I do my heavy duty grooming. It weighs about 30 pounds so I don't like taking to shows.
Picture
Chris Christensen Powder/Chalk Brush used for applying chalk.
Picture
Isle of Dogs Cotton + Fresh Orchid Replascent Odor Spray is great for covering up stinky odors or for long lasting scent.
Picture
Isle of Dog Straighten. This is the absolute best to straighten coat but they are looking for a new manufacturer.
Picture
Scissors are a personal preference. I would recommend the Kenchii Love™ 7-inch Dog Grooming Shear Set with the 46- tooth 6.5" Thinners. You need a nice thinning shear for trimming ears, etc. Left handed people need to use a left handed scissor. The purple dragon scissors also have good reviews.

Purple Dragon Scissors

Picture
Hair spray for chalking legs is also a personal choice. Just pick one that will not flake when brushing. I like the Aussie Mega Flexible hold.
Picture
Kangaroo braided leashes with beads are my favorite. I like a 36" or longer lead. A junior would need a shorter lead.
Picture
Joy Pet 6-1/2-Inch Double Headed Tarter Remover/Scraper, Stainless for removing tarter on teeth.
Picture
Chris Christensen Exquisite Fine Mist Sprayer. I use this on the dogs and ME if it gets too hot!
Picture
Chris Christensen Show Off No Rinse Shampoo for prepping legs for chalk or any emergency clean ups.
Picture
Chris Christensen Colestral is used to help hold the chalk on the legs. Some people use shaving cream instead.
Picture
Chris Christensen Spectrum One Coarse and Rough Coat shampoo and conditioner. I use this before the show if they dogs coat is too soft. They are not supposed to feel silky.
Picture
Chris Chirstensen - Bottoms Up Thickening and Bodifying Spray is another bodifer that I like.
