Our Breeding ProgramWe are a small show kennel located in Cleveland, Texas. Our dogs are our life, and we spend countless hours researching pedigrees, bloodlines, structure, temperament, and health to make thoughtful breeding decisions and produce the best American Hairless Terriers we can.
Because each puppy is an individual, we cannot promise a buyer a specific puppy until our evaluations are complete. Even if a puppy is born with a color mis-mark, we want to evaluate the whole puppy and make sure their structure, temperament, and personality are suitable for their intended home.
Our puppies are evaluated at 8 weeks of age for structure and temperament and again at 10 weeks for movement. Final puppy selections will be made between 8 and 10 weeks of age. Since not every puppy will be suited for the show ring, families looking for a show prospect will receive first pick.
Bringing Home a PuppyAmerican Hairless Terriers typically live 13–16 years, so bringing home a puppy is a long-term commitment. Our goal is to make the best possible match between each puppy and their new family.
We take personality and energy level seriously. We don't want to place a super-high-drive puppy in a home looking for a couch potato, or a laid-back puppy in a home looking for a highly active companion. Our puppies' individual temperaments help guide our placement decisions.
Puppies will go to their new homes at 10 weeks of age. By this time, they will have been wormed twice, received their first set of vaccinations, and had additional time to develop and strengthen their immune systems.
Health & GuaranteesOur show prospects are guaranteed against genetic defects and disqualifying faults. If a puppy is diagnosed by a qualified veterinarian as having a genetic defect or disqualifying fault, we will replace the puppy with one from a subsequent litter once we receive proof of spay/neuter.
All guarantees are void if the dog is bred before 2 years of age. Whether intentional or accidental.
Pet puppies are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. We do not assume responsibility for veterinary expenses. Depending on the circumstances and the nature of the issue, we may elect to refund up to the full purchase price.
Most importantly, we will always take back a puppy or adult dog that we have bred, regardless of the reason. Refunds, however, may or may not be offered and will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
How Our Puppies Are RaisedOur puppies are raised in our home and are litter-box trained using AstroTurf. We have found that this gives our families a significant head start when it comes to potty training. They are around multiple dogs of all ages.
Before leaving for their new homes, our puppies will also have been introduced to:
All puppies are microchipped before going home. Besides the typical puppy stuff you will also receive a puppy sling to carry your puppy in and a GPS tracking collar.
Our puppies run $2,500 to $3,000.
Pet & Companion PuppiesPet and companion puppies are sold with limited registration and a spay/neuter contract.
No puppy will be sold for the sole purpose of breeding.
Show ProspectsAll show prospects are sold on a co-ownership.
Any show prospect must earn the appropriate titles and complete the required health clearances before being bred. If a dog is bred without meeting these requirements, all guarantees are void.
Once the required health testing and championships have been completed and recorded, I will sign off on the co-ownership if requested.
Our goal is to produce healthy, sound, well-tempered American Hairless Terriers that can excel in the show ring while also being wonderful companions.
Adolescent DogsFrom time to time, we will have adolescent dogs available for sale. These are typically show prospects that either did not develop according to our expectations or are dogs we have decided not to utilize in our breeding program.
There is nothing "wrong" with these dogs. They simply are not the right fit for our breeding plans, and they can make wonderful pets and companions.
These dogs will generally have already been shown and trained and should transition easily into a new home.
As much as we would love to keep every dog we produce, we simply cannot keep them all. Our goal is to breed the Best of the Best while making sure every dog has the opportunity to live a happy, fulfilling life in a loving home.
